Taliban, US hold first talks

Afghan Taliban

On Friday Spokesperson for the US state department said the talks is not about legitimising or recognizing the Taliban government but the national interest of the US will counts.

US INTERESTS IN AFGHANISTAN

US has made clear that the talks is not in the interest of Afghanistan. Here an important questions arises. What are the interest of US in Afghanistan? How US can achieve or Safeguard it’s Interest?

Afghanistan is suffering from economic, governance and humanitarian crises. Mullah Amir khan Muttaqi, Afghanistan’s acting foreign minister, said the core target is to ensure the deal is to be acted upon and the humanitarian aid.

The minister also has the agenda of discussing ban on Afghanistan’s center bank. As Afghanistan is suffering from it’s worst financial crisis.

US interest is humanitarian and security. The ground of Afghanistan need for assistance and the international agencies asking for helping afghan peoples are the same and there is highly possibility that the two sides will patch up.

The important thing to notice is security situation of Afghanistan as the ISIS-k is continuously targeting different regions of Afghanistan. The US interest is to talk to Taliban to take care of the group as they already said to handle the situation. The other security matter to be discussed is the responsibility of Taliban to handle any other organization acting against US. These things and very important for the US and only future will tell us what the ground realities is.

The economic leverage is an important factor to pressure the group to US demands.
